“Expiration Dates” by Rebecca Serle
Review by Yvonne Selander, collection development librarian
Daphne doesn’t question when relationships end because she always knows they will. Whenever she meets someone somehow she gets a piece of paper, in some mysterious way, with the guy’s first name and a time period. Could be one day, could be three months, could be a few years, but she always knows when the relationship will end and while she lives in the moment she can be ready to protect her heart. Until the day she gets that piece of paper with only a name…
It’s a really interesting concept, how you would treat a relationship you not only know is going to end, but when. This book embraces the idea of living in the moment and living with a chronic illness. How one day your new normal is anything but normal and you live the life you have. I was expecting to bawl my eyes out, but I neither sad-cried or happy-cried I am thrilled to report. But I did love this book and the unexpected and wonderful turns it took. Romance fans and fans of characters dealing with the curveballs life loves to throw our way will enjoy this one very much.
